Resource Guide

There are a number of online resources that can help you understand, navigate and change the mental health system. I’ll provide them below as well as any critical commentary I have.

Mad in America

Mad in America provides drug information on the efficacy (or inefficacy) of certain pharmacological regimes, and how they may be used safely.

Icarus Project

The Icarus Project provides useful consumer based alternatives to general mental health service approaches. Some of these resources talk about the particular types of discrimination and oppression faced by consumers, how to create your own community support networks as well as harm reduction guides to coming off medication.

Mind

Mind Australia has a comprehensive research and publication base. Their website provides guide to recovery, recovery oriented practice (and the evidence for it), as well as support guides for consumers and carers.
